About The Healthcare Startup Awards

Every year the Healthcare Startup Society recognises the achievements and hard work of its members and their healthcare startup projects. The healthcare startup awards help to promote winning startups and also help to inspire others who are just beginning their journey of healthcare innovation.

A list of categories can be found below. The only criteria for entry is that your startup company is related to the fields of health, healthcare or medicine and you are an HS. member (it’s free to join). Applications open during the summer and shortlisted startups will be invited to attend The Awards held in London in December.

Startups can apply and members of the public can also nominate their favourite startup prior to shortlisting.

    of The Year

    Health Startup of The Year

    The health startup of the year award recognises the healthcare startup that has had the largest impact, made the most progress and has achieved the most goals over the last 12-month period.

    Size of startup is irrelevant and any startup that aims to improve health, healthcare or medicine in any form is eligible to apply.

    of The Year

    Accelerator of The Year

    This award recognises the accelerator programme that has provided the most benefit to health and life sciences. We are looking for both number of startups helped together with impact on those startups.

    Our non-profit award recognises a startup team or individual that has made a difference without any personal gain. Non-profits include charities and any organisation that has philanthropic purposes at its core.

    Fitbits, medical instruments, prosthetic limbs anything that is a physical product that aims to improve health, healthcare or medicine can apply.

    Today anyone can create an app and the android and app stores are saturated with every kind of health and healthcare-related app you can think of. That makes this category really exciting as we recognise the app that has made the most impact over the last 12-months.

    Any app that is currently available that aims to improve health, healthcare or medicine can apply.

    of The Year

    People’s Startup of The Year

    We know that not everyone will agree with the judges’ decision and the wide-variety of startups, individuals and types of ideas will make choosing category winners really tough. The People’s Startup is based on overall voting by the public irrespective of shortlisting and judging.

    This is probably the most important award and one of our favourites.
